GET PET
Privacy Policy
GetPet is an introduction platform. We hold less about you than most marketplaces do, because we are never part of the sale — but we do hold identity documents for breeders, and this page explains exactly what we keep, why, and for how long.

1. Who we are
GET PET (“GetPet”, “we”, “us”) operates the GetPet mobile application and the website at getpet.online. GetPet connects people looking for a dog or cat with independent breeders and licensed sellers in India.
We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here, under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it.
What we are not. GetPet does not own, sell, ship or price any animal, and takes no commission on a sale. When you unlock a breeder’s contact details, everything that happens after that — the conversation, the visit, the payment for the pet — happens directly between you and the breeder, and we are not a party to it.
2. What we collect
Browsing without an account
You can browse every listing without signing up. In that state we collect only basic technical and usage data (see below) — no name, no phone number.
Account information
- Your name, phone number and email address
- Whether you signed up as a buyer or as a breeder / seller
- Your city, and a profile photo if you add one
- A referral code, if you joined through one or share your own
If you list pets
- Listing content you publish: photos, breed, breed type, age, gender, price, city, health and vaccination details
- Your kennel or shop location, which is revealed to a buyer only after they unlock it
- Verification documents — covered separately in section 3
- Your listing statistics and the reviews buyers leave about you
Activity in the app
- Listings you save, searches and filters you use
- Messages you send to a breeder about a listing, and the breeder’s replies
- Which contacts you have unlocked, and when
- Questions you ask the in-app assistant
- Reports you file about a listing or a user
- Reviews you write
Technical and usage data
- Device type, operating system and app version
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Crash reports and diagnostic logs
- Pages and screens you view, and when
If you allow it, the app may use your device location to sort listings by distance. You can refuse this and still use the app; you can withdraw it later in your device settings.
3. Verification documents
Breeders and sellers who want the verified badge upload documents for a person on our team to review. Buyers never upload these.
- A government ID — Aadhaar, PAN or equivalent
- Photographs of the shop or home kennel facility
- A KCI, TICA or equivalent registration certificate
- Vaccination and deworming records
- Supporting documents such as health certificates and kennel registration proofs
These documents are never public. They are visible only to the GetPet staff who review them. What appears on a breeder’s profile is the badge and the fact that the check was done — never the document itself, and never an ID number. If you upload an Aadhaar, we ask you to mask the first eight digits; if you do not, we mask them on our side.
We use these documents for one purpose only: deciding whether to approve, reject or send back a verification request, and re-checking it if a dispute or a report arises later.
4. How we use it
- To run your account and show you listings
- To verify breeders and keep the verified badge meaningful
- To process a plan purchase and record how many unlocks you have left
- To deliver a contact unlock and keep it available to you afterwards
- To pass your message to a breeder and their reply back to you
- To answer support requests and investigate reports
- To detect fraud, fake listings, stolen photos and abuse
- To fix crashes and understand which features are used
- To send you service messages — a payment receipt, a verification decision, a security alert. These are not marketing and you cannot opt out of them while you hold an account.
- To comply with Indian law and respond to lawful requests
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
5. Contact unlocks — what the other person sees
This is the part people ask about most, so it is worth being precise.
- When you unlock a breeder’s contact, you see their phone number, their WhatsApp number and their exact kennel location. The breeder is told that a buyer unlocked their contact.
- When you message a breeder in the app, they see your profile name and the listing you are asking about. They do not see your phone number or email unless you choose to tell them.
- Once you call or WhatsApp a breeder, your number is visible to them through your own phone or WhatsApp — not through GetPet. What either of you does with the other’s contact details after that is outside our control and outside this policy.
6. Who we share it with
- Razorpay, our payment gateway, to take payment for a plan. See section 7.
- Cloud hosting, database and storage providers that run the app and store its data. They process data on our instructions and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Communication providers that deliver OTPs, transactional messages and push notifications.
- Crash and analytics tooling, which receives technical data rather than your documents or messages.
- Law enforcement, courts and regulators, where we are legally required to disclose or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone’s safety.
- A buyer or acquirer, if the business is ever sold or merged. You will be told before your data moves, and this policy continues to apply until it is replaced.
Our providers may store data outside India. Where they do, we transfer it only to countries not restricted by the Central Government under the DPDP Act, and only under contractual terms that hold them to standards no lower than this policy.
7. Payments
Plan payments are processed by Razorpay. Your card number, UPI PIN, CVV and bank credentials are entered on Razorpay’s systems and never reach ours. What we store is the plan you bought, the amount, the date, the payment status and Razorpay’s transaction reference — enough to give you a receipt, credit your unlocks and handle a dispute.
Razorpay handles that data under its own privacy policy, which you should read before paying.
8. How long we keep it
- Account data — while your account is open, and for a reasonable period after you delete it so we can complete anything already in progress.
- Verification documents — while the breeder is active on GetPet, and for a limited period afterwards so we can answer a dispute, a report or a lawful request about a past listing. They are deleted once that period ends.
- Unlock and payment records — retained for the period Indian tax and accounting law requires, because they are financial records.
- Messages and reports — retained while they may be needed to resolve a complaint or an enforcement decision.
- Technical logs — a short rolling window, then deleted or aggregated so they no longer identify you.
Where we are required to keep something after you ask us to delete it, we tell you what we are keeping and why.
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act, 2023 you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we hold and who we have shared it with;
- correct or complete anything inaccurate;
- erase your data, where we are not required to keep it for a legal, financial or safety reason;
- withdraw a consent you gave — this does not undo anything done while the consent was valid, and some features stop working without it;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights if you die or become incapacitated;
- have a grievance heard and answered.
Write to support@getpet.online and we will respond within the timelines the law sets. We may ask you to confirm your identity first — that check exists to stop someone else exercising your rights.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Verification documents are stored in restricted storage that only reviewing staff can reach, and access is logged. Passwords are hashed. Access to production data is limited to the people who need it to do their job.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
11. Children
GetPet is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for children. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete the data associated with it.
12. The website
This website is a static marketing site. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no cross-site trackers. Fonts and images are served from our own domain rather than a third party, so simply reading this page does not report you to anyone else.
If you send us an email from a link here, we receive whatever you write plus your email address, and we use it only to reply.
13. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects your rights or how we use your data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
14. Contact and grievances
For any question about this policy, a request about your data, or a complaint about how we have handled it, write to the Grievance Officer:
Grievance Officer, GET PET
support@getpet.online
We acknowledge grievances within 24 hours and aim to resolve them within 15 days, as required under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
